METERology uses Microsoft SQL Server to store all its data. The structure of the database means that additional meters or buildings can be added to the system quickly and easily by simply adding an entry in a database table. If there are any changes to your metering information, such as the rate being paid per unit of energy, then this is also a simple change to a value in the database.
Storing the data in your database, on your system, means that you have ready access to your data. This means that you can either import historical data from other systems or export from the database to other packages, such as Excel, for further analysis.
As Microsoft SQL Server is now an industry standard for database applications there area wide variety of tools available, such as SQL Reporting Services and Crystal Reports, to use this data in more powerful and imaginative ways.
